Presentation

Thank you for checking out my presentation!

I had some difficulty embedding the presentation on the blog, but I have included a link that you should be able to access. There should be an audio file for each slide (excluding the final slide). If you have any trouble with either the presentation or the audio, please let me know!

  2. Hey Andrew, Andres Cardona here. First of all, I thought it was really interesting to see cultural appropriation as stealing of property and profiting off it. I think you’re headed in the right direction with your research and wish you the best of luck with your paper!

  3. (Liam Costa) cool topic! It was a little complex but I understood enough, I think. Linguistics is not something I think of with cultural appropriation so that's interesting you made that connection, it seems to work. I know that Ariana Grande has been accused of cultural appropriation with her look, maybe you could incorporate that and how permissible her example is?

  4. I certainly hadn't thought of this connection between linguistics and cultural appropriation before, but after learning about it I can see that the connections are plentiful. On social media I see arguments about cultural appropriation and there were arguments at my school where a girl had henna. Thinking back on this I can see how linguistics could possibly be used in the situation. Are there any famous examples of cultural appropriation where the theories and parts of linguistics you mention could be incorporated? -Ethan Saber

  5. Great presentation! This was really helpful in understanding your topic and seeing how your 2 fields come together in a clearer way than the blog posts. I was most interested in the slide where you mentioned cultural sociology and its implications. This was overall a really interesting presentation that outlined a lot of things I have never thought of or come across before. Seems like you are headed in the right direction, good luck! - Rhea Bhatia
